Preferences, trusted sources & key pages

What this is: Three behind-the-scenes settings that quietly shape content quality: the AI's learned Preferences, the Trusted sources it may cite, and the Important web pages it scores against.

Preferences

Preferences are learned settings that steer how the AI writes. Find them at Settings → Preferences.

Each preference has:

What you can do:

  1. Click Add preference to state a rule yourself.
  2. Edit any preference's value.
  3. Confirm an Observed preference to lock it in.
  4. Disable a preference you don't want with its active toggle.
Tip: Skim your Observed preferences now and then. If one is right, confirm it to make it stick; if it's off, edit or disable it.

Trusted sources

Trusted sources are authoritative sites the AI may cite. Find them at Settings → Trusted sources.

Two ways to build the list:

When the writer searches for citations, it draws on these domains.

Only cite these sources

By default the list is a preference: the AI searches your trusted sources first and prefers them, but it may still cite a good source from anywhere else.

Switch on Only cite these sources at the top of the section to make it a rule. With it on:

or loses its specific figure, because nothing on the page supports it any more.

Expect fewer citations, and slightly shorter articles. That is the trade you are making: nothing gets cited that you have not approved. If a topic is only covered well outside your list, the AI leaves the point out rather than citing elsewhere.

The switch does nothing while your list is empty: citations are left alone, so turning it on before adding sources cannot strip an article bare. Add at least one source for the rule to take effect.

Tip: If articles suddenly look thin on evidence, check this switch first, then widen the list. Subdomains are included automatically, so gartner.com also covers blog.gartner.com.

Important web pages

Mark your key pages so the platform knows what matters. Find them at Settings → Important web pages.

These pages are used for coverage scoring and audits.

Prerequisite: Update from website relies on your crawled site. See Crawl your site & the website index if the picker is empty.
Tip: Together, these three settings do a lot of quiet work: preferences shape the voice, trusted sources shape the citations, and important pages shape what the platform measures your coverage against.
