Internal linking

Search all guides

What this is: A plain-English guide to internal links, why they matter for SEO, and the two places the platform helps you improve them.

What internal linking is

An internal link is a link from one page on your site to another page on the same site. They're not just navigation. They do real SEO work:

Tip: Think of internal links as connecting your strongest, most-trusted pages to the pages you want to rank. Some of that trust flows along the link.

Where the platform helps

Internal-linking guidance shows up in two places in the Website area.

1. On an opportunity's detail page

The Internal linking section of an opportunity's detail page gives recommendations like "add contextual links from these authority pages." Use Apply with AI to generate specific link suggestions you can act on.

See Find & work opportunities for how to reach this page.

2. In the Template audit

The Template audit flags missing structure that affects internal linking, such as absent breadcrumbs or related-posts links. Fixing these in your blog template improves linking across every post at once.

The workflow

  1. Review the suggestions on the opportunity detail page or in the Template audit.
  2. Add the links in your CMS editor (WordPress or Webflow).
  3. Re-crawl so the platform sees the new links. See Crawl your site.
Gotcha: The platform suggests links but doesn't edit your site for you. You add them in your own CMS, then re-crawl so the changes are picked up.
