Connect WordPress (and get your credentials)

What this is: How to link your WordPress site so Content Pipeline can publish drafts to it, including how to create the credentials it needs.

Prerequisite: You need admin access to your WordPress site so you can create an application password (and install the Content Pipeline plugin for the token).

WordPress is one of two CMS options (the other is Webflow). Connecting a CMS is required to publish, and it unlocks the Website overview area.

Connect your site

  1. Go to Settings → Integrations.
  2. In the Publishing panel, set the toggle to Wordpress.
  3. Fill in the fields:
    • Website URL: your site's public URL (the one the platform crawls and indexes), e.g. https://example.com.
    • WordPress Site URL: where posts are published. Usually the same as Website URL. Only set it differently if you publish to a different environment than the one that's crawled (e.g. a staging WordPress instance).
    • Plugin Token: the Bearer token from the Content Pipeline WordPress plugin.
    • WordPress Username: your WordPress user name.
    • WordPress Application Password: a WordPress application password (see the next section).
  4. Click Save CMS settings.
The four fields below Website URL are all required to publish. Website URL identifies the site the platform reads; the Plugin Token, Username, and Application Password (plus Site URL) are what actually authorize publishing.

How to create the WordPress Application Password

  1. In your WordPress admin, go to Users → Profile (your own user).
  2. Scroll to Application Passwords.
  3. Type a name, for example, Content Pipeline.
  4. Click Add New Application Password.
  5. Copy the generated value (shown as groups like xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx). You only see it once.
  6. Back in Content Pipeline, paste it into the WordPress Application Password field, add your WordPress Username, and click Save CMS settings.
Tip: The Plugin Token is separate from the application password. It comes from the dedicated Content Pipeline WordPress plugin (install and activate it, then copy the Bearer token it provides).
Gotcha: Treat both the token and the application password like passwords. Keep them secret. If you lose the application password, just generate a new one and paste it in.

What happens when you publish

The platform creates each post as a draft in WordPress. You review and publish it live from WordPress yourself. When publishing from the content editor's Extras step, you can also choose the post author.
